FAQs on COVID-19 Safe Travel

Do I need a negative Covid-19 test to return to the USA? What type of test do I need?

YES, all USA inbound international AIR passengers are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to check-in and boarding the plane. You can get the exact updated details on your airline websites... Important Covid-19 test Updates: The test can be taken at most 3 days before the initial departure point and can be a molecular test, nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), RT-PCR test, LAMP test, or a viral antigen test (including a rapid antigen test). The antibody or serological tests will not be accepted. Many of the international resorts in Mexico and Caribbeans offers the COVID-19 test if you stay at least for 3 days.

* Dreamavoo advisors will check and double check for our clients with your airline prior to your US departure so that we can plan ahead.

For more information, the CDC will have the latest updates on Covid-19 Safe Travel and the Covid-19 test on all inbound air passengers mandate.

Are US territories considered foreign countries for the purposes of the inbound Covid-19 test mandate?

No, the Order to present documentation of a negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19 does not apply to air passengers flying from a US territory to a US state.

US territories include American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

If I fly from a US state or territory to another US state or territory, but have to transit through a foreign country, am I still required to get a test before the first flight?

If you booked an itinerary from a US state or territory to another US state or territory and the itinerary has you taking a connecting flight through a foreign country, you do not need to be tested. An example of this situation is an itinerary booked between the Northern Mariana Islands (a US territory) and the US mainland via Japan.

What are the recommendations after travel?

  • Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel.
    • Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
    • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
  • If you don’t get tested, it’s safest to stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
  • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
